Whether you are an interesting in becoming a better poker player inside of you, or you are just interested in achieving the final table in a major tournament, you will find tons of information on the internet to help you achieve your goals. However, the majority of information can only be seen once you decide to view it. Hence, I thought I would share my thoughts, experiences, and opinions with you on becoming a better poker player — both inside and out.
growing up as a kid:
I am guessing most of you grew and learnt a lot at some point, when it came to decorating the house, driving to the park, eating your lunch in class, using the phone, and walking to your destination. AKs just seemed to be kind of cool. You might have seen a lot of them on the sensors, or maybe you had a friend that was crazy about them. In any case, once you started playing with them you just had to have them. Anyone can just buy them, but you will probably never win a tournament with them. They are also not that cheap to ship them anywhere, and have to be really careful with them.
$$$300/$600 Texas Holdem tournaments:
These tournaments are much more challenging to a poker player that is used to playing $1/$2 games. The skills needed in these games are entirely different. You need to put on a good poker face, and you better be sure you are not bluffed out of your money by the other players. The higher buy in and high stakes tournaments are not for everyone, but if you are making a serious transition from casual to competitive play, these are the best ways to do it.
Finding a coach or mentor:
If you are trying to take on the world of poker on your own, finding a coach or mentor is very difficult. Most players don’t think they can do it on their own and neither does anyone else really know how to help them. If you are fortunate enough to have someone who has been successful at the game and is willing to teach you, this is a great way to go. The individual will not win every game or hand, but you will get better and better at the game as you go along. Plus, you will have someone there that you can bounce ideas off of and have a mentor system to go to for advice.
If you are not ready for that, or the person you are trying to teach is not someone you trust, or someone that you feel comfortable teaching, you can find a good online coach that will work with you, on the game. Many of the older more experienced players coach new players and some of the more advanced players work with students online to advance the skill.
Another tip is to be confident in your ability. Even if you are not the best player or even if you think you are better than other players, if you think you are going to start winning and beat them, you have to have the confidence. Having something to back up your confidence will make you more confident and you are more likely to win the game. This does not just mean in poker. In everything you do have to have confidence in your ability or else you will find that you are wasting your time and money.
